New York - Marine Park

Avenue U & East 33rd Street
Brooklyn, NY 11229
(917) 533-6196
(805) 650-7770

Welcome to the premier bike and boat rental destination in Brooklyn! For bike and boat rentals, visit our kiosk located in the parking lot across the street from the Marine Park Salt Marsh Nature Center. We feature the largest selection of custom cycles, bicycles, boats, and more - guaranteed fun for the whole family! Wheel Fun Rentals at Marine Park enables adventurers to explore this wildlife preserve in a fun, new, and exciting way.

Enjoy this peaceful and serene environment as you learn about the salt marsh eco system in a two- or four-person pedal boat as you explore Gerritsen Creek. To cover even more distance, choose a single or double kayak. For kayaking, come prepared to get a little wet from the drip of your paddle and splash of the water. Or try a glide across the water on a Stand Up Paddleboard.  Dress for the weather; lightweight, synthetic clothing is best. Prepare to be out in the sun; sunglasses, sun block and a hat that won’t blow off.  A water bottle is also recommended for longer excursions.

If you prefer to stay on land, you can still enjoy the green marsh grasses as they wave in the briny breeze from one of our many bikes available (nature preserve trails are for walking only, however you can view the creek from the path along Burnett Street.) Choose from our signature four-wheel Surrey or enjoy low to the ground glory on a Chopper. With so many options, there is something for everyone!

About the Area

You can find us in the Marine Park parking lot off of Avenue U, in between East 33rd St. and Stuart St.  We are easy to reach by both car and public transportation. Marine Park is made up of 798 acres that surround the westernmost inlet of Jamaica Bay, making it the perfect location to view wildlife in its natural habitat aboard a boat or bike. See blue herons stalk fiddler crabs in the pungent mud of the marsh at low tide on a kayak as you explore Gerritsen Creek. Or pedal along Marine Park Greenway Loop on a bike to see nesting osprey or maybe even some of the thousands of migrating monarch butterflies that enjoy the marsh.

Wheel Fun Rentals works to help bring awareness to these sensitive habitats. Our goal is to enhance the educational experience of everyone who gets on the water at Marine Park.  We've partnered with the New York State Marine Education Association to ensure that all our staff members and customers are aware of the impact they have on the local marine environment. Read more about our partnership with NYSMEA here >

Riding and safety instructions, life jackets, and route suggestions are provided with every rental, so it's safe and fun for everyone young and old. Whether you are a local or visiting the park for the first time, don't miss this unique way to explore this hidden gem in the borough of Brooklyn.

What are the most

Our two most popular activities are  Free-for-All Bikes and Surrey Scavenger Hunts. Free For Alls are perfect for groups who want to try a little bit of everything we offer on land - groups can ride any bike in our fleet or try them all! And our Surrey Scavenger Hunts are perfect for groups looking for a challenge!  We set you up in teams and send you off in a Surrey with a list of riddles, clues, and questions to be solved. First group to complete the scavenger hunt WINS!  Additionally, we now offer the "Salt Marsh Experience" - this educational experience is complete with an on-land instructor that educates guests about water safety, proper paddling technique, currents, tides, and local wildlife. Once in the water, guests can access informative wildlife booklets and tour guides that are dispersed around the marsh.
